invitation to the skinnycap store launch party & vapour trail graffiti jam Dundee 31 march

The plan is to meet at the shop for 11.00, at 75 Meadowside, Dundee
(just round from the wellgate) Shop number (from March 19th) 01382 228803.

The shop doesn’t officially open till Tuesday 3rd so the shutters will be half down, just limbo under em! Map is attached, if your lost give me a bell on and I’ll fire down to the bus station or give you directions to the shop.

If your coming through if you could aim to get to the shop for 11.00 , we are to be at the the wall for 11.30, (it would be a lot easier to head to the wall together as it’s a bit awkward to find or direct folk too.)

The walls 10 mins up the road from the shop, there is a small fun day thing happening next to it, so they’re will be the odd family onlooking but it will be chilled & I will be properly sectioned off.

This is in the pipeline as being a permanent legal wall which would obviously be cool & will hopefully lead to a proper sponsored event later in the year, this time around it’s a bring yer own paint affair.

All writers welcome.

The party at night will be at downstairs at the Dundee Rep Theatre, 2 Tay Square, Dundee from 10 onwards with some hippy hoppy tunes being spun by mister vera & toadtastic of Voigt Kampff, Mighty Robot Recordings)

Hope you can make it.

Personelly I don't see why graffiti is illegal since basicly cave paintings were the earliest forms of art and are basiclly graff but since its against the law i don't mind. Society let us down by releasing pedos. I mean i'm sure the public would prefer a buncha people sneaking about in the night writing on stuff than a buncha child snatchin freaks.

I am a reporter for the Islington Gazette and we need a capable stencil artist for a story we are doing.

You may have heard in the news about the stall owner who sold a Banksy which had been painted on his stall for £1000, and then discovered it was probably worth £500,000. He has sadly been saying he would love it if Banksy came and did another one. He is an Islington resident, so we want to offer him a replacement by a ‘fake’ Banksy. If you reckon you could do a good replica of the original stencil, would you be up for it?

We can’t afford to pay you for the work, but it would be a good fun thing to be involved in, and you’d get your photo in the paper as you did the work.

This is the original story:

I know my sketches are weak and I haven't kept my work on legals. I would just prefer not to have to break the law.
Concept too tough for you or something?

How come there's so much animosity just because I have a different opinion of graf to you?

If it's about breaking the law and doing your own thing, how come you've got such a problem when I break your pretentious little rules and do things my way?

I don't go over artwork better than my own, so you can't get me there, but equally I don't get a chance to practice much because I don't want to risk my skin much.
I have more to lose than lots of you, getting caught is not something that I can be so cavalier about.

I quite like not having a criminal record!

What's your problem with the fact that I don't want to break the law? Why does it matter to you? I do break the law, but that doesn't mean I enjoy the act of breaking it.

Some of us grew up. Others just got older.

If you spend your time being insulting towards me, why would I want your respect? Your respect doesn't give me anything, does it, so why would it matter?

Graffiti is not the hobby for you my freind, for a start your sketches are weak as fuck, for second you dont make up for it in bombing, for third you only want to paint legals. ask 9/10 writers if they respect you throwing weak shit onto legal walls and see what they say. I sure as hell dont and im nearly as toy as you are.
you might not want my respect but you probably want to keep your paint down the legal ;)
graffiti is no picnic.

EDIT: i never said i enjoyed the act of breaking the law i just said it's necessary if your to be considered a writer.

never bombed=no respect.
I appreciate piecing but i think bombing leads to piecing after you have been arrested a few times bombings no longer an option and piecing becomes a must ooorr you get to good to waste your talent on bombs(in my opinion bombs are never a waste)
if you dont like breaking the law then fuck off. your not cut out to write.

It gains acceptance for graf, it's like a wedge in people's minds.

People struggle with big ideas, breaking them down into small pieces make them easier to accept. Banksy's artwork is a step in that direction.

Yes, some of his work is not difficult to do, but the fact is, he did it. The world is full of people who say "oh, any idiot could have done that", except the difference is, the idiot actually went ahead and did it.

Personally, I'd like graf to be given a break. I don't expect it to be legalised, but I don't like the amount of police attention that is being dedicated to it, it seems like a considerable waste of police time.

If people feel threatened by graffiti in their area, wouldn't it make them feel a bit better if we weren't villanised so much?

I don't want to harm the community, but I do want to get my name up and see more artwork on the plain concrete surfaces that dominate our modern environment.

No offence, but it seems that your fairly new to graff in your opinions. Go and properly bomb, lots, and see how your mindstate changes on this. Obviously most of us dont want to go to jail etc and less police interest wouldnt go amiss, but then the essence would be lost

...but what the fuck do i know, im THE LAW!
